  • 6 speed MT2

I thought I would start a thread on this subject to get some ideas bounced around.

I have the 5 speed Getrag 284 that I tore the 2nd gear syncro out of it at the track this year so I'm throwing aroung 2 ideas - find parts trannies and fix it or attempt a MT2 swap. I have a hook up at a GM dealership here and can get the MT2 for about $2500CDN, list is about $3200CDN.

The idea of having a tranny in the car that is serviceable, and parts avaliable for it sounds good to me, and the really stretched out 6th gear would make cruising on the highway a dream.

So, I'm going to do some work here and find out some info, will the 284 CV shafts work with this tranny, can I mount an intermediate shaft to it, what will be involved in swithching to a push type release bearing as opposed to the pull type that the 284 has, etc..

And input or suggestions welcomed! Let's see if we can get a 6 speed Z34 on the street by May '06.
