4T60E Upgrade to 4T65E Tranny Swap

Ok I hope someone can help me figure this out! I currently have a 96 with OBD-2 and 4t60e tranny. I want to put a 00+ 4t65e trans in place! I would like to stick with the 96 OBD2 PCM due to the fact that I have a Powertuner for it! Any help or redirection to a site with a walk through of this swap would be great!

96 what?? i am assuming a 3.4 dohc.

not an expert on the subject but the easiest thing i would suggest provided you make the mounts work(if they are different) is to get a 97 pcm and harness from a monte z34 since they already have a 4t65e(or so i have heard anyway)

Sorry I have a 96 Monte Carlo, which I put the 3400 from a 00+ Grand Am GT in place of the 3100sfi that came with the car! And like I said I would really like to continue to use the 96 harness and PCM due to the programer I have will only work on the 96 (atleast thats what I was told).

the 4t65e is a lot different in the area of pcm controll. it uses an epc sononoid instead of the vacume mod, meaning there are more wires from the pcm to tranny. the 4t65e wasnt even out in 96, so your pcm wont even be able to be flashed for the 65 if you added the wiring needed.

im afraid you will need to get a wiring harness and pcm for the 4t65e. id say go with a gagt wiring and pcm, however they use a 4t45e. you would need to find something thats 3400 and 4t65e. the only thing i can think of off the top of my head is van, however i dont know about the gauges and how it would work.

Well I hope that is not my only option! I was thinking of using the 02 monte ls PCM and wiring! But the security relay out and maybe the dash out puts might be different. I'm trying to find wiring diagrams for the harness for the pcm connector and body connector, so if anyone has them handy it would be a big help!

Ok the 02 LS pcm will not work so on to the vans like said above I'm starting with the venture, silhouette, trans sport, montana. Seeing they fit the bill! Still out on the issue about the gauges though!
