  • 4t60e trans problems

first i have 2 codes in the ecm a 705 code which is the prndl switch and the other is 740 code which is the tcc switch. now this is what i notice when driving the car. when up around between 50- 60 mph and holding steady i notice the trans down shift down to 3rd gear rpms goes up to 3000rpm and it only seems to do it when its hot outside. now what i was wondering is if the prndl switch interacts with the tcc switch like if the prndl switch is shorting out and causeing the tcc switch to kick out? also can the home mechanic change the tcc switch themself . any suggestion would be helpful. the transonly has about 57000 on it reman from dealer ship. out of warrenty now. i havent done any fluid and filter changes thinking that i need to do that i read somewhere that the tranny will go into safe mode when it get hot

Check out some of the TSBs and see if any match what you are seeing...

change the prndl switch first. that may cause a tcc problem. the prndl is way easier to change than a tcc solonoid, so change it first, clear the codes and see if it fixes the tcc problem.

Check the two bolts that secure the position switch to the top of the transmission where your shift cable connects. Also check the contacts in both connectors for a good connection.
