  • 4T60-E [CUSTOM TC] highest "reasonable" stall spee

well, i need a tc because i accidently scarred the bushing when removing it from the tranny

i did a little research and i can get the FAxB (2795 stall) for under $100 cdn
and i can get a custom one for around $200
i was thinking 3000 to 3200 rang, but not too sure if thats over doing it?

i was deffinatly thinking of changing my drive/driven gears to get the 3.73 fdr, and im doing the 3x00 top end swap on my rebuilt 2.8 block with a lift of 429/429 w/ 1.6 ratio rockers.

what would be the pros and cons of going to a higher stall of around 3000+ this would be a daily driver, but i do want to scare people lol

with gas near a $1.00 a litre i think im in trouble :P

would a higher stall torque converter affect cruise speed?

    i may in the future slam on a set 17 x 50ish x 235ish

Just a little food for thought. Changing the gears will give you a BIG change in performance depending on you base ratio. If your tranny has the 2.92 final ratio and you switch to the 3.69 ratio you will have a NEW car. Using a higher stall will just give you a tire burner and make the torque steer insane.I am actually bringing the stall down on my project because the motor is going to have tons of power over stock and I want the power useable. Starting out lower in the power band will get you going before you hit full power and you will be less prone to break the tires loose. And if you are doing it stick a posi unit in it and have some real fun.

im going out monday to purchase FA*B tc i guess which is 2795
thats a 735 rpm difference, doesnt seem like much, but i guess if i dont like it i can go higher in the future, i gotta get this thing on the road in amonth or so, AND i still have to get some 3100 parts from donk, and do the hybrid on my 2.8 block.... wish me luck :P
