  • Clutches???

Hey yall have a 85blazer 3.4 with a 5spd transmission and the clutch is about 8months old and is already beginning to slip, I was just wondering what yall thought was a good clutch for this truck(there is a supercharger waiting). The one i had grabbed fine for awhile but now its awful . thanks anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

Oh yea do i need a new pressure plate and clutch assembly or just the clutch? thanks again

Centerforce are suposed to be good clutches for the s-10. They have dual friction ones too

centerforce have been getting a lot of heat lately for slipping clutches not holding what they are rated for.. go for a spec clutch - they even have a stage 3 hybrid clutch that is as streetable as the stage 2 but holds 400ftlbs

the centerforce clutches are no good on gm fwd cars, however rwd stuff is different. the rwd bellhousing has room for the weights on the fingers, so it is built like centerforce designed the dual friction.

Zoom clutches are suppose to be pretty good, friend had one with no complaints. That was on a RWD, I dont know how they would be on a FWD

would likley work great if it works on a rwd.

the big thing with the centerforce clutches: they are designed to use weights on the fingers. the weights will get pulled out by centrifical force with more rpm, and they pull on the fingers and create more clamping load but still keep a near stock feeling clutch pedal. thing with the gm fwd cars is there isnt enough room in the bellhousing for the weights, so they dont have them, and you end up with a slightly improved pressure plate, but it doesnt have the clamping load you need with the friction material.
