  • HD Clutches and bellhousings

Hey all you guys into drag racing - is there much of a track record of blowing up clutches with these 660 motors? (3.4L ironhead in particular.)
I am going to be into replacing my T5 transmission, and while I'm at it, I'm thinking about what's between that and the motor, and I've started looking at what the aftermarket offers (or doesn't).
It doesn't look like Lakewood or anyone else offers a safety bellhousing for a 660. Anybody know otherwise?
Is an aluminum flywheel (such as Fidenza) much stronger than stock?
Who makes a good rugged streetable clutch disc and pressure plate? No problems with the one I have so far, but as long as I'm in there...
If you run good parts, is a blown clutch just not something that ever happens?
What about a Kevlar blanket for the bellhousing, anybody ever seen one of those used?
I've not seen anybody mention blowing up a clutch in one of these things, but here's the thing - in my Sprite, my right leg is only about six inches from the bellhousing, separated by one piece of 16 gauge sheet metal. So I'm just trying to see what options there might be for some added protection. Anybody have any ideas or experiences, I'd appreciate it.
