  • 4t65 diff in a 4t60?

I've heard that you can put a 4t65-HD diff and cover in a 4t60-E.
    Is this true?
It seems that the 4t65 changes the chain to go between the 2.93 and the 3.29 since you can upgrade to the HD diff (originally in a tranny with a 2.93 FDR) without changing the FDR of 3.29.
So, if it is possible to switch to a 4t65-HD, what would the FDR be if i have a 4t60-e with a 3.06 FDR?
And what all is needed? do i need a new sun gear? I know i'll need a PS HD axle.

If you do a search, a while ago there was a discusion on how to figure out FDR, if that helps.

Yeah i was lurking around when pontiac jeff explained the whole thing. I'm more concerned with putting a stronger diff in though. I could just put the 3.33 diff in since i have the 1:1 gear ratio but it's still a non HD diff. I could put the 2.89 diff in there since it's a HD but that gear ratio is even worse than mine. I could also get a 3.33 LSD but it's big $. So, I was wondering about the 4t65-HD diff.
