4T60E crying during acceleration...

I have a 95 Monte with the 4T60E (obviously) and during hard acceleration there is a whining noise from the engine compartment. I lean toward the tranny just because when I rev it up in park or neutral there is no noise. The tranny shifts nice and firm. It WAS doing the "Lose 4th gear" thing. In fact while driving from Virginia to Chicago 4th gear was a gonner starting from the mountains to Indianapolis. From Indy to Chicago all was well. Kinda wierd. Anyway.... Any ideas what the whining is and what it can mean would be greatly appreciated! Thanx

I get the same thing in my 95 grand am which also has the 4t60e. Almost sounds like a supercharger whine when the RPM gets up there. I don't seem to be having any problems with my tranny though so maybe it's normal?
