i know we had this discussion on the old board but thats gone now...

i need to know if a 60* engine(3x00) will bolt up to and work with the 4t60-e in the 95 grand am i just got that has a quad 4. there's a 2001 3100 on egay local to me that would be a nice upgrade from the seized 2.3

all the 60*s and the 3.8s (and all 3.8 variants) use the same bell housing. the quad four and 2.4 Twin cam use a different bell housing that will not bolt up.

damn, i was hoping a trans wouldnt be needed, because the motor is a screaming deal and only has 38k miles and is local.

yes they are interchangable. you'd need a V6 trans case.

its the Starter location that is different on the 2.3L quads and 2.4L twin cams. they have the starter located at the top side of the trans.

I thought the Grand Am uses the 4T40E or 4T45E in those years?
