Shift Kit

Anybody had a shift kit put in there tranny yet to make it shift harder.I know its computer controlled but there is some stuff you can have done inside to help you shift hard.

Ive shimmed the accumulators.

TransGo makes shift kits and shift reprogram kits. The reprogram kits are the ones that give you firmer shifts.

Shimming the accumulators is the best and cheapest way to make it shift harder.

screw shims. i took the springs totally out and made my own shift kit it gets rubber inbetween gears

"Made" your own kit? With what? Did you make the accumulators solid? If so, damn dude, I can only imagine how rough that is...

i took out the springs and put brass rods where they go so the pistons are locked out at the top of there bore

If you take out all the cushion, the bands and clutches take ALL the abuse and will not last. i shimmed mine very tightly and raised the line pressure the first time around and it only lasted a few months. You will most likely end up breaking the band or warping the drum. I talked to the guys at transgo and they wont even do it on the bullet proof 4L80E. I asked them about working on my 700R4 and they said there has to be some give in the accumulators for reliability. They dont even shim them solid in competition trannies.
