  • 96-97 4t60e High Stall TC's....

ok, according to info posted on this thread.. http://www.60degreev6.com/index.php?...ght=high+stall

it says that the 96+ 4t60's cannot use the high stall tc from the Q4 engines due to some PWM TCC lockup shit.

can someone clairify what this means?

i was about to order the TC from the store but i came accross that info.

what could the expected problems be if i went ahead and put it in anyway with blatent disregaurd for the info posted?

i mean, the guy never gave credit to where the info was found, and you can only take info from the net with a grain of salt.

so is there anyone that has info on this or actually put this TC on a 96+ tranny?

That almost looks like it came from a TSB, but I can't find any similar TSB in all that we have (of which I think is all of them for the 60E).

I'll have to look at it and do some searching to see if I can find anything that talks about it. How soon do you need to know, cause I can email GM about it as well and see what they can tell me.

Now that I actually read the whole thing, its not from a TSB. I'll see if I can dig anything up...

In the mean time, here is a TSB that talks about the addition of the PWM TCC starting in 94.

well, i need to know pretty soon. i was planning on ordering the TC today or monday so i can have it by next weekend. and then it was going to get installed.

from what i read on the link you posted, the info the other guy posted seems to differ and that the PWM was changed in 94 and not 96 like he had stated??????

so if thats the case, then it wont matter to much since Timg is running the TC that i was going to purchase as well and he has a 95 monte.

and also from reading that, the only drawback would be some shudder and from what i have read, timg says there isnt much at all.

Yeah, the PWM TCC was added in 94 for smoother shifts. As far as them changing it again in 96 and again later, I haven't seen anything that supports that.

i will hold off for now and give you (and me) some more time to look into it.

i will order it on monday so if you find out anything let me know before then.

                thanks again

Converters used with PWM transmissions generaly have a carbon woven lining in the coverter.. I know on the rwd 4L60 you can coverter them from PWM to an on off soliniod.. I am not sure about the 4T60es though..
