  • 4T60E, can you use any 4T65E parts to bulk it up, torque con

I have been looking around and I can not very many parts for the 4T60E. I have not been able to find a shift kit for it or any signifigant performance parts. Are there any ways to beef these transmissions up? I was thinking about spacing the clutches at their minimum spec and adding a shift kit if I can find one. Can you use any 65E parts to make these transmissions better? Also are there any aftermarket torque converters, if so which ones and what are the benefits? Thanks.

well this is kinda related.... the tranny shop said that for 1700 they would rebuild my 60E.
But they said if they changed the FDR that would f up the computer or something, something to do with
    the speed sensor.

Sappy, when are you going to crack the 95 TDC chip?

The FDR on a 60E doesn't matter... if you change the final drive ratio on a 65E though you get a gear ratio error code and it sets the transmission limp..

you can use the 65's clutches from Raybestos. they have a standard and then a set of hd clutches.

per emails that i recieved from a raybestos tech person....

"Thank you for your inquiry. We do have some gen2 Blue Plate Special
        performance
friction plates available for the 4T65E that will work in the 4T60E.
        The parts
that will retro-fit to the older 4T60Es are the input and third (both
        the
internal and external splined) friction plates. We will also be
        offering a
modified third clutch that has been proven in GM?s Pontiac Sunfire
        driven by
Marty Ladwig. It controls the stress and temperature within the pack,
        which
        leads to increased capacity.

The gen2 Blue Plate high performance friction material has higher
        friction
coefficients than other ?performance clutch plates?. Simply put, the
        higher the
friction, the more torque and horsepower that can be passed through the
        pack
        before it slips.

Let us know where you are located and we can suggest a distributor in
        the
        region.

        Thanks Again,

and this is the locations that he gave me to order them...

"The two most likely places to find the parts are at Transtar in Chicago
        1-800-214-8710 or W.I.T in Louisville Kentucky 1-800-940-0197.

        Input:
        Raybestos # is 577770

        Third:
        Raybestos #s are 577710 & 577720 "

im not sure if the TC will work or if the LSD's will work as well.

I've got some links for 4t60 parts,
For gear conversions and LSD's check out:
Latest news coverage, email, free stock quotes, live scores and video are just the beginning. Discover more every day at Yahoo!

E-mail them and they'll get back to you with prices and such. They did with me.
I just found this link today and it has an entire tranny available and the first modified valve body i've seen.

The zzp/intense converters work on the 4t60, i'm pretty sure, but you should e-mail, zoomer/scott to be sure.
Hope that helps you guys out.

I definitely plan on getting a gear conversion from him. He said a chain drive gearset is $100 which seems really reasonable. He said that he could also get me everything needed to complete the swap.
I'm gonna wait till early summer cause then i'll have some $$
