  • Rebuilding the 4T60-E, questions.

I am going to rebuild the 4T60E trans in my automatic transmission class to complement my 3100 engine class rebuild. Figuared since I pulled them together I might as well do them both. I have been looking around for shift kits and noticed transgo has a 4T60E Jr shift kit, anyone have any experiance with these? I have been looking at upgraded parts from sonnax. Does anyone know any parts I should replace or problem prone areas in these transmissions? I am probably going to run synthetic when its done. Thanks.

    RE: Rebuilding the 4T60-E, questions.

Your Transgo kit is a good idea.. I'd look at a Mr Shift kit though.. They are a little better...

Some commen things to replace would be your boost valve, The aluminum bore likes to wear out, causing some leak by and a slight loss in line pressure. I recomend a sonex boost valve for that. Also check the lock up valve.. The 4T60e has a PWM (Pulse width modulated) lock up control.. I don't know if you know what that means or not, but the bore wears out..

In the accumilartor body.. The pistons like to wear out in the center where the pin slides threw... You can get away with some slight wear and be fine, but the pistons are cheap so you might as well replace them..

If you can get a hold of a sonex book you should have a look threw it, there is a number of updates for a 4T60E
