  • best fluid for getrag tranny?

Whats the best type of fluid to use in a getrag 282? And how much?
Please try to be specific. I need a few different opinions unless everyone has the same one. Thanks alot.

gm syncromesh. its recomended by gm, and seems to work the best. its a synthetic oil and has specific additives for manual transmissions.

should take about 2l, but may take a bit more.

Where is the plug on a 282 to check/fill the fluid. I haven't look really closely, but I can't seem to find mine on my Calais.

Theres a dipstick on the backside, to the right side of the diff case.

I guess I would get that fluid from a dealership parts department huh?

Autozone has synchromesh manual transmission fluid. PENNZOIL I believe the manufactuer was.

I used it in my Getrag 284.
          It ran about $4/L

And yes, your local GM Parts Store should be equipped with a few of those bottles
