What are you looking to gain? If you want firmer shifts, switch to type f fluid.

the B&M shift improver is not a waste of money. i have it installed on my car and i tested the vacuum on it with it on and off the car. with it off the car there is 18 inches of mercury at the vacuum modulator. with it on the car there is only 15 inches of mercury at the vacuum modulator. with a lower level of vacuum the car will shift firmer and quicker so all you that say it's a waste of money have obviously not used it and tested it on a vehicle.

otherwise there is a company out there called TransGo that makes a kit for the 4T60-E that aides in torque converter lockup and shift complaints. it's another shift improver kit but it will aid in a tougher longer lasting trans.

you can use Type-F trans fluid for a firmer shift but at the same time you have to be careful with it. since our cars are not designed to run Type-F there has been in the past the occurance that the friction modifiers that are in the fluid to build up on the servos and the electronics in the valve body and can cause trans faillure. so yes you can use it but also be aware of what could happen. the Type-F in GM trannies was really big back in the TH-350 and TH-400 days but not so much now with the electronically controlled transmissions since the mid to late 80's and on up.

think that b&m shift kit thingy might increase a quarter mile time by 1/10th?

i am doing a tranny flush here soon. but i will use factory recommendations.

A shift kit wont net you any noticale gains power wise.. what it'll do is make the car drive better.. It's going to firm up the shifts and make them more positive.. Insted of stock slimy shifts..

The only cars these days where you will notice shifting differences by changing the fluid are honda's and Chrystler fwd where they both use fluid with friction modifiers to add in clutch slip during shifting for a smoother less noticeable shift..

To put a shift kit in a 4T60E the transmission has to pretty much come out of the car.. Also valve body work is not the kind of work for a back yard mechanic to be doing.. The valve body is the brain of your transmission and there are a lot of little fussy things you have to watch out for...

i tested it at the track and saw better times with the shift kit fully open than when it was fully closed so yes it works and it will aid in improving your times. although i can't say conclusively since i only ran 3 with it on and 1 with it off but from my observations it works SO LONG AS you put it on the vehicle before 100k miles on the trans.

batman, i sold that to you because it didnt work and was a waste of money, lol

                  but you still wanted it.

by the way, the track times you got, i was there remember. the track conditions is probably what led to your .1 improvement.

remember, we all were getting better traction as the day progressed so i cant say that i agree with the claim.

                  sorry buddy.

by the way, i got the new laptop and software. anytime you wanna come up, i can take care of your pcm for you.

yea, let me know when you want to come up.

we are actually going to be putting on the P&P heads with the LS1 springs this weekend and fabing up a new xover and DP

next weekend we are going to try and get the new 4t60e tranny i got and get the LSD put in along with the 3.73's (hopefully). as long as i can get the stuff in time it will be going in next weekend.

and i already have a file for your car ready, i just have to have your car here.
