if your on a budget, go with a used tranny. most salvage yards have a 3 month warrenty, so if you get a junk one, you just have to do the re-re again. if you go through a shop on a used unit, and the unit they put in is toast, they have to get another unit and put it in without charging you for it.

i however would highly recomend getting your trans rebuilt. it will be the better route in the long run. as for a "new" tranny, you would be paying massive cash for it. if you go to a tranny shop, they may sell you a rebuilt unit and take yours as a core (or charge you a core charge), but it will likely cost as much as it would to rebuild yours.

My shop warns a customer.. if they go used and the a bad one is supplied we don't warrenty the re and re.. They have to pay us again to put in another unit... All shops I have worked at have been like that..

you have to becarefull when going used.. you never know what you are getting..

I'd strongly suggest you get it rebuilt.. A good shop will replace the electronics and shift kit the transmission when you have it rebuilt.. These are 2 must do things with a 4t60e..

It cost me about 750 from an independent shop for the rebuild, including the R&R. They have the equipment, the know how, and warranty their labor. Used will cost you at least 250 plus the R&R.
