  • I need help deciphering the tranny FDR swap...

What cars exactly have the the gears I need to swap? Is this just a gear swap or is it more complicated? I was not too clear on this.

What tranny? If its a 60E, then it will be simpler (still not "easy") compared to a 60. The 60E has a removable end, where as you have to completely disassemble a 60 to get to the FDR.

Yeah I actually was wondering the same thing after reading the begining. Because this is something I would really want to install in my car. Probably not by me, myself, because transmission work sucks.

        Thanks....

Yeah. The 60E is what I am referring to. The fact that it has a removable tailshaft is very cool. That does make things much simpler! I'm glad this FDR came up. I thought the only way to get decent performance was using a Isuzu 5-speed unit. I have a 1995. That would be a pain in the ass. So I guess I can use aftermarket hard parts and seals what not to beef up my transmission? Is that clutch type limited slip worth the money? I can put a B&M lockout shifter on it right? So I'm calling around the junkyards for transmissions this week. What exactly should I ask for? There are about 15-20 parts yards in Bakersfield. Even with 3.73's 150 horsepower isn't enough to warrant an LSD.
