  • Problem with 4T45E tranny on 02 GA GT

During acceleration, my RPM jumps up and down when the car is trying to shift into 4th. It finally shifts when I press the gas pedal little more. Any ideas?

    Checked your fluid level?

Might be a TCC problem also.

What exactly could be the problem with TCC?

Hmm, well, most symptoms of TCC failure is a jerky car... Sometimes TCC's just fail to work. It's replacable, but I'd bet it's something else.

Well, I have had this problem for long time. I disconnected the battery and let it sit for a while, and after that, the car shifted differently, and the jerky problem came back again.

disconecting the battery clears the pcm's memory, and it will have to do the "self adaped" again. all electronic transmissions learn your driving habits (if your a lead foot or a grandma) so it will shift the way you drive. if your a leadfoot, you will have later and more firm shifts. if your a grandma, you will have early, soft shifts. when you disconect the battery, the ecm needs to learn it all over again so it will shift funny for a while (usualy firm) till it learns your driving habbits.

oh yea, it also can componsate for wear in the tranny.

Ya, I understand that the car learns how I drive and shifts accordingly. The funny thing is, I disconnected the battery, let it sit for a while, and then reconnected it after I discovered this problem. The problem was gone, but after I drove it for about 3 weeks, same problem came right back.

Do you have any mods do to it? Shift enhancer, ect?

May be it's not the transmission, the trans runs off of other sensors too, so maybe like a speed sensor or something? Like it can't decide when to lock-up the torque converter...

Do any SES codes come up?

It's really hard to say what s wrong with it.

                        UPDATE:

I got my tranny flushed and it's a lot better, but it still does it once in a while.

Hmm. And it still does it? Maybe there's a faulty sensor. It's hard to diagnose over the net.

                          You're Korean right?

Me? No. I wish I was! lol, but ya, my beautiful girlfriend is! Full-Korean. She moved here 6 years ago think. We live in awesome part of the cities here, a couple of Korean stores, and an awesome restaurant. She's always teaching me how to speak it too.

I remember your name from GAGT.com.
