  • Lookin for info on a tranny swap

Im going to swap a 5 speed transmission (hm-282) into my Corsica in place of the shitty automatic (th125c) thats in there now. Has anyone here done a swap like this? Or know of any good links? Mostly what I need to know is, how much do the transmission mounts differ? What is an intermediate driveshaft? How does it differ from a normal driveshaft/halfaxle? Is there really any difference between the driveaxles for an auto and manual transmission? Ill probaly think up more qustions that can probalby be answered by a good write-up, so if anyone has any links for a swap like this please post them. Thanks in advacne.

Since you state your Corsy has the TH125, its an 87-93. Therefore, find a same year Corsy with a 5-spd and use it as a parts car. Or even a Beretta would do. Easier to have everything there than try to piece a whole bunch of crap together. You'll end up missing a couple parts no matter what.

Hehe good luck finding one. Ive looked, and I never seen one in a yard around here, or any for private sale. I can get all the shifter/cables/pedal, parts like that out of a 1st gen cavy, and I have seen plenty of those.

Where are you located? Goto www.car-part.com and I bet you can find something. I just did a search for a 93 for all states and it came up with 3 pages worth. Many of them were Berettas, but as I said, all the mountings should be exactly the same between the 2. Most of the differences between the 2 cars are body panels and such, but the engine bays should be identical.

Yeah, I looked there allready, found a transmission in Winchester, VA that im gonna call about next week. I didnt really check to see if I could find a whole car though, might be worth a shot at least.
Hehe nvm, cant search for a whole car.
