I tried using the search function, but that didn't help much. Does anyone know what all can be done to the 4T60-E to make it any better? I personally have not had any problems with mine, but from reading through other posts, it sounds like a POS. Where can i find any info? Quinky said that there are quite a few aftermarket parts available, but i can't seem to find any. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Go with ZZP! They were running a deal where it was like $1799 for a Race Built 4t60e and you got Free Installation. They do not list it, but they said the 4t60e would be the same price as the 4t65eHD when I asked them about it. They have done a bunch of them.
The stock 4t60e is wierd. Its a POS to most, and then there are people who its good too! Most people seem to have them blow before 100K miles and with a stock or nearly stock engine! Ilumo went through 4 of them before even getting close to 200K miles. Some people have them go 200K miles though before they go out.
As for the weak you can email ZZP and they will tell you everything they beef up on the 4t60e to make it hold.1995 Pontiac GTP
Over $12K invested, and still its slow. Maybe thats because thats most all repairs. Don\'t knock the engine though, because thats the only part that has seemed to last.

OK, thanks a lot. I was reading somewhere that when they first designed the LQ1, it like 280 hp at the flywheel. But they had to downgrade it because the trans wouldn't handle that much power. I am planning on having Ben do hisP+P heads, I'm going with the 96/97 intake, planning some headers, an underdrive pulley, and maybe some more, so i want to be sure the tranny will handle it all.1993 Lumina Z34 - Broke Yet Again

despite all that, i haven't had any problems from mine and I get on it every chance i get. and alot of people are rough on these trannies and haven't had any problems. i believe your stocker should hold up to your mods all i suggest is to buy a good tranny cooler and you should be ok and if you have a 91-93(well it seems you have a 93 by the sig) the lines are already there.
p.s. and change your fluid and filter at suggested intervals. trannies like anything else will fail when not maintained. The Official Rotating Mass Nazi

yep, you probably won't need it until after you get your mods but a cool tranny is a happy one plus the coolers are relatively cheap and even if you put it in be4 the mods it can only help your tranny IMO. but get a second opinion on your situation, b/c this is just my .02The Official Rotating Mass Nazi

Every little bit helps. I just didn't want to risk having something go wrong with the trans, cuz from what people say, its a POS. But like I said, I've never had any problems with mine. With my luck, I'll get everything done, put it all back in the car, and the damn thing will explode or something.1993 Lumina Z34 - Broke Yet Again

raybestos is or has already produced HD clutches and bands for the trans...either green or blue i can't recall offhand. there are a few internal hard parts available with more on the way. that crappy easily breakable Reverse Reaction Drum can be purchased in a hardened unit. the transo shift junior kit is model number SK4T60-E and can be purchased for under $50 to your door from transmissionpartsusa.com
the B&M kit works but apparently should be installed on the vehcile before it reaches 100k miles.
ZZP and i believe Intense both use engineered.net LSD's and sell them for a higher price and label them as their own. go direct and save cash.1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS/SS 3100 SFI

We just put an engineered LSD in my buddies 282. It looked good but whoever removed the old bearings nicked the shit outa the journals when removing it. They also used heat and it looked like they got it a little too hot. For the price of the unit I found that a little bit of a let down. It also took several months to get it. The unit is also just your run of the mill spring loaded LSD. Price was a bit too high. But since it is the only source for LSD's I guess they can charge a premium.1993 EXT.
