  • 5-speed into a 3.1 j-body swap?

I'm trying to find a Sunbird or Z24 that is in good condition with a 3.1/ 5speed. The problem is the ALL seem to be fricken automatics around here. Whenever there is a 5-speed for sale on autotrader it is usually gone by the time I call.

Anyways my question - would it be worth it to just buy one with an automatic and swap in a 5-speed? How much would the parts and labour cost to do this? (I'm not quite skilled enough yet to do that sorta thing myself)
Anyone ever do this swap? what all is involved?

It's actually not all that hard, as the V6 J-Bodies used the same old mounting system for all their life.... You just would need (besides the obvious) the front engine mount bracket, and trans mount from a 5-speed car..

Dave, I've done that swap, but I had 2 cars to work with at the time.
      Some things you'll need are:
      -shifter
      -cables
-motor & tranny mounts, where it bolts to the block (different between auto & manual)
      -tranny (of course)
      -CV shafts and intermediate shaft
      -clutch
      -flywheel
      -manual interior console
      -ECM

That's all I can think of right now, but you know where I am if you need anything else.
