  • 4t60e transmission problems

Hey everyone. I wil be your resident newbie this evening. Glad to be here. Question for all you 4t60e buffs. What would cause the torque convertor to lock in second gear? Computer and harness are good. I wired up a series of switches to actuate a,b, and tcc solenoids manually, and that made no difference in the converter issue. I am pretty sure that it is in the tranny, but is it worth trying to fix, or just swap to a 5 speed?

LOL swap to a 5 speed yea right. Have fun doing that one.

Fix the auto. I will take a look through my book and see what I can dig up. Can you give me more info on the tranny. Such as year and the engine it is attached to.

the tcc might be messing up
      did you try unplugging it
and as far as a swap i would say unless you don have anything ot do for a week or two dont do it unless you are talking about putting your motor in a car that alreay has a 5 speed

Forgot to mention engine and year package. The engine is a turbo 3100 out of a 2K malibu. The car is a 94 grand am gt. The electrical connector to the trans was disconnected and the solenoids were manually actuated by three individual toggle switches; solenoid a,b, and tcc. 2nd gear manually had the same results and 2nd automatic. The tcc solenoid had to be off, but the converter still locked.
