Get the clips from the dealer. I had one pop off on me at an autocross several years ago, and spent an hour looking for it, without success. I went to the dealer expecting to get raped, and they were only ~$0.38 each...I bought 3, just in case If I had known how cheap they were, I wouldn't have wasted my time looking. Ironically, several months later I was walking the course at an autocross in the same lot, and found the clip.

Sweetness! Thanks Marty. The next spliffs on me.
Tuning a car is full of compromises. You must decide if you are willing to give up either reliability, performance, or a whole load of cash. Also remember that repairs will seem to come up much more often as you strive for even more performance

Well, heres the latest and you heard it here first! The new tranny is FINALLY back in and bolted to the motor. And I went to the dealer for the shifter cable retainers. Special Order only item. $5.80 for 2 clips. OUCH!!! Anyways, as I was tightening the back tranny bolt, I noticed that the oil pan gasket was halfway hanging out (along w/ a bunch of RTV). Fucking cork pieces of shit!!! So, $20 later, I now have a nice, new, RUBBER gasket Since the oil pan will be off, it will give me a chance to inspect the bottom end. Pray all is cool there. If I had an extra $62 I would go ahead and change the oil pump for a hi-volume (not hi pressure!) , but alas, I dont so I wont yet. Thank goodness the frame isnt back together yet or getting to some of the oil pan bolts would be a bitch. Anyways, more to come I'm sure.
