Sorry to be posting my ass off tonight, but Frances is visiting Ohio. Question is, What is the diff in these 2 trannies, and what parts are interchangeable? Specifically the differential. Cause there seem to be a lot of performance parts for the 65.

Hello All
Can we start a seperate topic for the 4T65E transmission related information?
I just purchased my 97 Monte Z34, (152K and still running strong) it would be nice for everyone to be able get information on this specfic transmission as to it's durability, strengths and problem areas for future up-grades and or general maintenance.
Thanks
John
PS
Is there a spell check? I did not see a box to click on for it.

4T60e has a vacum mod that controls line pressure where as the 4t65e is fully electronic.. as for internals you have to be carefull what you are swaping in a 4t65e.. The power train control moduals for a 4t65e are sensitive to final drive ratio changes.. If you do change the final drive the computer wont read things correctly and send the transmisson into limp mode (2nd gear only).. A 4T60e you can change the final drive ratio's no problem.. In both transmission the diffs are one of the week points.. Also on the 4t60e's the band likes to break.. if that happens you'll only get fwd movement when you put it into manual low.. A recomendation for the 4t65e is to have a sonex shift kit installed and perform there updates.. the computer for the 4t65e monitors shift timing.. if a shift is slightly to slow 3 times it will send the computer into limp mode... this seems to be a problem considering the shift isn't really slipping that much at all.. the shift kit will help cure this problem..
