Good day, I am posting to hopefully acquire some useful suggestions as to the fix for a series of issues I am having, all SEEMINGLY related to the transmission of my car. I recall pulling a code some time back that was "third gear shift sensor fault", and now I can no longer pull codes (not sure why), OBD1 reader does not recognize that there is a car plugged in, but the port is delivering a 12v reading. Anyhow, often times, my car will shut off its check engine light, at that point, I can 100% guarantee that soon it will move into a rapid jerking motion whilst driving, and then the light will come back on and it will drive normally. If the check engine light is ready to come back on while I am at a stop, the car will die. Once restarted, if constant acceleration is not applied to the throttle, it will die again, requiring me to find the perfect balance of rpm's and shifting from neutral into drive, in order to keep going. Also, I might add (related or non-related) that my 1993 Grand Prix SE has an issue often with starting after it has been stopped, usually more common in the heat of the summer, often requiring starting fluid to get the engine running, but this seems more of a fuel issue to me, like fuel fumes flooding the intake manifold perhaps? Anyhow, there has to be someone with this engine and transmission combo who has experienced the same exact issues? Any help with this issue which has eluded me for so long, would be greatly appreciated.
thank you,
Justin.
