  • Persistent P0502, 1996 4T60E

Hey all. 1996 Buick Century, 3100, 4T60E. I had a P0502 code pop up the other day, which is the vehicle speed sensor. I made a couple videos to describe the problem I'm having.

Very shortly after I ended the second video recording, the speedometer began functioning again, and the SES light came on. I checked the code, and it was again P0502. As I said, this is with a new sensor, not a used one. Any thoughts?

Loss of signal? Did you check the pig tail wiring?

I would definitely use a meter and ohm out the wiring from the ECU to the pigtail... Could easily be an issue in there somewhere. The speed sensor is a very simple hall effect sensor so there is not much that can go wrong with it other than bad pickup which you've already replaced the sensor as a whole OR bad wiring.
