4t45e Differences????

So...The trans in my 04 alero went out (actually I fried the converter, but its been slipping into 4th anyway) I was given (for free) a trans out of a rear ended grand am, but it is from an 02 i believe. The plugs are different and uses a different neutral safety switch that is all I am certain of at this point. I cannot seem to find any answers about what is actually different between years. I am tired of trying to weed out the dumb answers on other boards, from people that answer, but have no idea of what they are talking about. Can this be made to work, or am I SOL?? If it can be made to work what needs to be done??
And please for the love of god if you don't know what you are talking about don't answer LOL!!

Found a trans from a wrecked 05 malibu at pick a part while scrounging parts for my truck, cost $89 and 87k on the clock, thats the route Im going with now. Used the 02 trans as a core since the malibu trans has half the mileage and I know is the right one.
