  • Question : Fork removal? Help

How do you remove the fork on a 1990 Beretta getrag 282 external slave. I need to replace it and I don't understand how to remove it

    This one?

I'd say loosen the arm at the top so it slides around, then rotate the arm away from the trans so the fingers are not on either side of the output shaft and then see if it will slide up to release the bottom, then angle the whole rod away from the trans and slide it back down. This is only a guess from looking at this photo though, I've never removed one before.

I asked a guy on Bnet who I know had to replace his... the picture above is actually the trans he did it on. I'll let you know what I get for a reply.

Jon's pretty much got it. Loosen the slave cup and slide it toward the input shaft. Pop that end cover off with a screwdriver and start sliding the fork through the hole until it comes out of the bushing. Then just angle it forward and pull it back through the hole you just slid it in to.

It's just pressed in. The service manual specifies a screwdriver but I can't remember what I used. This was quite a while ago now.

The upper shaft bearing. It didn't come out nicely. I could reuse it but I think.am gonna measure and see if I can get one up town. I don't see them listed on any auto part stores.

That's just not going to happen unless you get shit lucky and find something similar. Parts for those transmissions don't exist on any local parts shelves.
