  • Lets talk clutches.

More specifically, Getrag 284 clutches. I need a new one. What is everybody running for a clutch? I have a 'stage 2' Bully clutch right now, and it slips big time.

I have a SPEC 2+ in my 284 swapped 2000 Impala with a stock 3800. It held well for 2000 miles. I swapped to a better 284 at this time and it began to slip shortly after. I used to be able to drop the clutch in 3rd gear and chirp the tires. Now if I drop it it just revs.

Also interested to see what others are running.

I'm running a 282 (so a bit different..). But I'm using a 6 puck XTR clutch off ebay. I was running a spec 2 but I burned it up. The 6 puck is holding up very well, even without me doing the proper break in period. A puck takes a little bit to get accustomed to, but I would recommend it to anyone.

Anyone get the eclutchmasters off eBay. My stock replacement doesn't hold the 3500 after 10000 miles anymore. Is spec over rated. Am real close to getting that e clutchmaster

Since 1978, we've been manufacturing performance clutch and flywheel kits for drivers. Find an aftermarket clutch kit for your high-performance vehicle here.

Just something for you to read ^^. eclutchmaster and clutchmaster are different. I've never heard anyone talk poorly of clutchmaster. Spec is a great clutch. I have no idea how many miles were on my spec when I removed it, 30k+. The clutch itself still looked new, but the flywheel and pressure plate were toasted. (From further research it was due to the stock line between the slave cylinder and master cylinder.) [If you haven't, I would recommend installing braided steel line between your master and slave]. I would run a Spec or a Clutchmaster. But for the price, I was willing to risk trying an ebay one. I could purchase 3 ebay clutches for the price of 1 spec or clutchmaster.

I bought the eclutchmaster it seemed the best out of all the ebay stage two clutches. I have braided line already. Should I buy OEM flywheel or will a 50 dollar any name one work.

I would recommend OEM. I've heard of the no name ones cracking.
