  • Question : Getrag 282

I have been using a 1990 beretta getrag 282 with a external slave. My slave broke the connection end off. Do I have a metal option. Also where can I find parts for this year trans. I need a new shift fork also. Maybe a rebuild kit for a 96 shifter too.

their is no metal option that im aware of or heard of you might be able to find on vpi for your fork and go to rodneydickman he has rebuild kits for fwd getrags and shifters

That's the one. Rockauto sold the aluminum centric ones a couple months ago. Guess Ebay is your best option now for it.

The fiero V6 five speed is also a 282 IIRC, this guy has been making top quality parts for Fieros for ages. not sure that they would fit a beretta too though...

You could go with a hydraulic throw out bearing as a slave option. I installed one and I like the clutch pedal feel. Not as much a leg work out for a stage 3 clutch.

However, it is an internal slave. Does reduce moving parts.

Yea that one is plastic off ebay haven't had the time to try it out. Might fit better if it fits in the trans hole

I used a htob similar to this one.

I like the feel of the pedal, not heavy. Works great though they can be a pita if you need to get to it. Got to separate the block and trans if you need to service it.

i bought ac delco one from rockauto with their 5% discount nothing like buying stock parts for reliability i think it was $60-70 and put my braided line on at the same time and it feels like a stock clutch

vpi is vintage parts industries that has spme hard to find parts for gm car but dont always have what your looking for but generally have what gm doesnt offer anymore
