ok,got the used tranny back in (it came out of a 92 Grand Prix)..now,for some reason it refuses to go into D2 or D1, it doesn't want to start in park,..it will start in reverse...do I have to adjust the shift cable or something? I kept the shifter in park the whole time I was working on it..I put the shift on the tranny into park,( I believe that I had it in park...)Seeing as how the lever will only go on one way because of the flats on it,could I have not gotten it into park? Isn't park turned all the way one way?BTW,my car is a Z34 1992..3.4L..any help here is appreciated..thanks in advance..

Definately sounds like the cable is miss adjusted... You can pull the adjuster part up and then by hand move the lever on the trans all the way up to park, obviously having the inside selector also at park and then push the adjuster back down.
Pic of the adjuster.
Get a small screw driver under the side
and it should lift up like this
Also if you pulled this from a car that did not have D1 originally then you may not be able to use that unless you take apart the trans and change out the internal gear detent unit, I know the one in my beretta does not have a location for D1, it stops at D2 or L for my application.
