  • 94 GP Trans Prob..

Hello all I am new to this forum, clubGP is where I am normally looking..... But I have a 94 GP with the 3100 and It seems like the car will always start in second, or the thing is just a dog off the line... Not all the time though.. And no I am not touching the second gear start button either..... And it never wants to go into OD either.. CHanged Tranny fluid and filter when it first started and nothing.... Maybe a soloniod or something...? FWD is fairly new to me... But it is starting to drive me crazy and I want to try to save the tranny if I can.. But my 88 GP with a 2.8 is faster than my 94... WTF??? Any help is appreciated....

did you change the filter yourself??? if so, what was in the pan??? if it starts in 2nd and doesnt have od, then it likely has internal problems, and may need an overhaul.

Yeah I changed it my self.....The pan was suprisingly clean.. Not shavings and no sludge..... Thats why I thought maybe a solenoid prob...

Man that suckers got a vac modulator on it. You got a vac leak or the diaphram is fucked in the mod. At least inspect these things. The mod is like $30 at NAPA. Easy as hell to install and well worth your time and money to look into. Located on the front of the tranny to the right and just above the starter. Hope this is it. THe mod controlls line pressure and can cause all kinds of shit. If it isnt then you are going down the same road as many of us here. Pull it.

Acutally I just replaced the vac. line assy from the intake and one of my other buddies said to pull the vac line and see if the mod is full of tranny fluid... did that and no tranny fluid.. thats where I am at.. Maybe time for a new mod...... Thanks for the input guys.....

if there is no tranny fluid, there is nothing wrong with it.

The Tranny is full of fluid... the modulator didn't leak any when the vac. line was removed.... so diaphram is not leaking.. I wanted to clarify.......
