  • 4T60-E shuttering

I have a 96 Grand am 3100 V6 4T60-E trans 4spd auto. at 50-55 mph there is a shuttering from the transmission. if i drop it back in 3 it goes away. i have changed the oil and filter and added a bottle of lucas but nothing helped. and suggestions?

You may find this very odd, but I bet you have a bad coil pack. All the times I've had coil packs fail on me (twice?), its done the exact same thing...

Torque Converter lockup/mechanism. Input shaft, gear going bad. It may be one of these. My trans did the same thing for while. Tap on the brake pedal when it begans to shutter and see if that makes it go away. If so it has something to do with torque converter locking up

my nephew has a montr carlo with a 3.4. it has coil packs. just check where your plug wires connect to. if there are coil packs, you should see 3 coils .

well i replaced the plugs and wires and it's still the same. if i touch the brake i does not go away. could it be the controler for the coil packs? the shuttering is the same has a manual transmission labouring.
I need this fixed because the wife is getting on my nerves about it. nag nag nag.,

Go back to the TCC! They sell a product called a TCC adjuster for our cars. I did some searching for the problem since mine also shutters like that. Its always at right around 2000K rpms maybe alittle below, 50mph and acts like the car is confused at this speed. I asked a mechanic about it and he said it was just a normal Automatic, but that sounded like BS to me.

                          Here is the link.

The TCC Adjuster functions by altering the computer strategy that controls the TCC which yields the folowing advantages:

                          1. Cures shudder problems caused by slow application.
                          2. Reduces Clutch Slip
                          3. Reduces heat in the Converter Clutch.

Another advantage of the TCC Adjuster is it helps to ensure that the TCC is not brought in too early while under heavy acceleration.

                          3. Reduces heat in the Converter Clutch.

Over $12K invested, and still its slow. Maybe thats because thats most all repairs. Don\'t knock the engine though, because thats the only part that has seemed to last.
