Question : 2005 4t65e problem

2005 rendezvous, 3400/4t65e

60k miles, fresh fluid/filter, bought @ gm dealer 4 mo ago with 58k.

starting last month, there has been an intermittent delay in the 1-2 shift only cold and only the first shift of the drive. also sometimes when stopped at a light, the trans feels out of gear and catches when gas pedal depressed. both issues very intermittent. fluid and filter change made the slow 1-2 shift go away for 2 weeks but it came back today.

i have read about a pressure control valve needing replaced as well as possibly the entire valve body removed/cleaned/checked for sticking valves but have not seen it mentioned for 2005 models.

any thoughts? all shifting feels excellent otherwise.

Might be something up with the forward servo. For ha ha's next time you come to a stop, put it in manual 2 or 1, see if it goes away. If it does you could potentially have an issue with the forward servo.

The 1-2 soft shift is a common 4T65 issue, link is to a valve body repair kit.

looks like that is the same as Sonnax # 84754-30K which i can get through the parts supplier for $64. i used to rebuild auto trannies back in the day but havent touched anything in years. most of my experience was 700r4's and chrysler 604 junk.

lorenzo, the problem with manually selecting 1 or 2 is that this is so intermittent that i wouldnt know if it changed anything. the only time i could try it and expect anything is the first 1-2 shift out of the driveway, because ther 1-2 shift is always lazy then, and never any other time.
