  • Reverse Light Switch Question

Wiring up the reverse light switch on the getrag-282. I notice many people mention using the orange wire as the source of power, obviously the other wire is to the reverse lights.

    But my question is this......

Must I use a constant voltage source (orange wire) or can I use a switched power source (pink wire)?

The reverse light isn't needed unless the car is running. It seems more practical since the car can be left in reverse w/o draining the battery.

But if so practical, why don;t I hear of others doing the same as well?

Just want to be sure there isn't a reason I'm over looking.

They probably do it out of ease of the wire already being there and not having to run another wire since most don't leave their car in reverse when it's parked and off. That and cutting small unimportant corners due to being tired of not driving the car thanks to the swap. I still have no reverse lights hooked up on the 91 and drove the car around the neighborhood without the hood on it that night around midnight, IIRC.
