Question : what can cause this? 4t60e 95 monte carlo

i have a 95 monte carlo 3.1 auto. it is my work car since my cummins is no way practical with it's mods for a dd. first gear works, second gear works but it wont go to third anymore. recently is went to about 5k rpms before it went to third now it doesn't at all. it use to slam in 3rd also.

i wish i remember what codes it threw, it was about 4 or 5 codes.

what can cause this?

there's a good chance that the codes indicated will explain the erratic operation.

but the way the shift solenoids are designed, 3rd gear is both solenoids off, so assuming the PCM is no longer commanding them on, it's a transaxle issue, possibly the shift solenoids themselves.

So it used to flare high on 2-3 and engage hard... The 3rd apply fluid circuit has definately been compromised. Could easily check the 2-3 accumulator in the lower pan if not the damage is further inside.
