So i have a '92 beretta GT that i for the most part lost the 3.1 out of and very possibly have access to a 3400 supposedly out of a 2003 Grand Am GT. i've looked a lot into doing the swap and found the guide that was done on a caviler and i guess is what most people have used as well as personal support from a forum i used before but appears to have gone tango uniform.
My real questions comes down to mating it with my transmission out of the beretta, as far as i can tell the clutch and flywheel should bolt on the 3400 and then the same with the tranny itself, which is Muncie 5-speed that was in the car when i got which i believe is stock for it. The worry is will that transmission handle the nearly double horsepower increase from the motor especially if i plan to do some build up to the motor like the stage 1 kit from Wot-Tech, 65mm throttle body, and headers so really more like 2.5 times the hp when all said and done. if it won't take the beating any suggestions on how to replace or rebuild it more likely? thanks ahead of time folks!
