  • 4T60E to 4T65E.......

What issues will I encounter when I do this? On another site, a member said the transmission wouldn't shift correctly.
I'm taking the very VERY tired 3100/4T60E from my 1997 Monte Carlo LS (287K miles and counting) and replacing them with a 3400/4T65E from a 2001 Monte Carlo parts car I picked up.
Will it be an issue with the wiring, code in the PCM, differences in the axles, a combination of all of these?
Thanks in advance for your advice and comments.

I can't comment on axles, but wiring as well as PCM programming will be things you need to look at. The 4T60E is controlled with shift solenoids and a vacuum modulator, whereas the 4T65E is fully electronic.

Picking it up tomorrow. Here are some pics of the car. Taking it by a body shop whose owner I trust to determine if the damage to the door hinge/pillar area is worth fixing. If it's not too bad, might just replace the fender, door, mirror, lower control arm or strut, and keep it rather than swapping everything over to the '97 Monte.

It's hard to tell, but that window frame does look like it's not meeting with the roof like it should. It could be the top of the door is tweaked from the impact since there are a couple wrinkles in it. I'm no body guy or crash pro, but it doesn't look too bad to me. In fact, the more I look at it, the more I would think you could fix it and have a nice car, but again, I'm no body guy or crash expert.

You will need to get: (IIRC)
            - 1998 Monte Z34 Axle (Only need to replace passanger side IIRC)

you will want to use the 2001 ECU, Harness, Engine, Trans, sensors, ect.... MOST likely you will need to swap some of the pins on the C100 firewall connector to match your existing wiring. so you will need wiring schematic for both the new car and the old car... other then that and the axles you should be ready to rock. everything should drop right in physically and for the most part plug right in.

            Hope this helps.

I need to start testing this on my Beretta... Eventually the 4t60e is just not going to cut it, and I know the 4t65e is used in some very impressive S/C'd applications.

Talk to mike at Milzy or Dave at triple edge performance. They can build you a real nice bullet proof tranny for around 1700(Milzy) TEP is a little more expensive

If I spend any money on someone building me a trans it will be through Jeff at EP.

                        Engineered.net

They are the only place who make a true LSD, so if you are getting a true LSD from Milzy or whoever, they are getting it from EP and marking it up for profit.

They are way closer to me than Milzy. I'm in Dallas, Texas. I see they do engine swaps to. How experienced are they with 3500 swaps?
