      Always pre-fill the converter! Always!

Also, don't forget to "wet" the seal lip (use the same fluid that you will be installing) before installing the converter to the trans.

Bulk part seemed to be a good place to get some of this tranny stuff.

gpse3400 what do you mean when rotating the stator splines try not to rotate it against the converter??

I think you mean not to push down to hard while rotating the stator spline in the converter. I have never messed with one of these so not real shure what to look for. I already ordered a new one but would love to learn a good way to check these for in the future.
Yup its exactly what I mean.

well im still waiting for my torque conveter i hate waiting i need to get this going. Just been throwing a few parts at the moter while its out Timing gears ,chain, gaskets, balljoints, sway bar links, brakes and rotors not to metion a bunch just before all of this.Just hope it runs for awhile after all this

When I turn the old torque converter second spline in its smooth for part of a turn and rough for part of a turn. Sometimes it will spin both ways with little resistance clockwise or counterclockwise. And somtimes the stator will resist a counterclockwise motion but not all the time. The book that I had said to drain all fluid before doing these tests to the torque convereter. I did not drain all the fluild only about a quart or so.{Its in there duringnormal operation I didnt want to change that] There was also a endplay check which i did not do at this point i figured it was bad anyway.

well i got the new one today shure did spin smoother than the stock one. I have been trying to fill it i have 1 quart in it already. I think that i read somewhere that the torque converter holds 4 quarts so i am going to try to get at least 2 quarts in it maybe more that should fill it halfway if i have the numbers right. there was a little fluid in it like they tested it before they sent it out. hopefuly i can get it back together this weekend.hope this torque converter solves my problem

The one quart is just fine. Too much and you will have a glorious mess when you tip it up to install it in the trans.

ya I got a quart and a half I figured that would lube it a little anyway. It was taking awhile to seep in the torque converter. Well anyway I got the moter and trans put back in the car today about 45 min just to drop it in with the old lady it went in good we didnt even get in a fight hahaha. Im shure some of you can relate to that. So hopefully tomorrow i can get the rest of the stuff hookedup and start it up if all goes well. I might just have it back on the road monday.kinda worried about bleeding the brakes hope I dont have a hard time getting the air out Im going to check those threads out thanks to all of you that have helped me this tranny stuff

Well, since you were capable enough to tackle this job, bleeding the brakes will be cake. Especially with two people. My wife has helped me bleed brakes many times.

technically, berettas were "sport compact" before it meant rice.

I ought to kick your arse for that comment... LMAO Calling my car rice... HAHAHA

But yeah your right... The Commuter version is the Corsica... The Beretta was at one time the hopefull to replace the camaro since they thought FWD woudl rule everything... Hence the reason a 96 Z26 cost more than a Camaro did at the time.

Any bleeders on a car that is over 8yrs old are almost sure to be rusted solid... also depends on your location. BUT all and all the cylinders are rather cheap, so as long as you can get the line out of the cylinder you'll be golden.

Now would probably be a good time for me to mention I tend to put a small amount of anti-seize on bleeder threads to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future. Then again, I remember being told you are supposed to change your brake fluid ever few years which makes sense since it likes to absorb water.

ya the bleeder broke then the solid brake line broke in the cylinder as well. so I got to bend some brake line up and then bleed it out wasnt to bad only one back one the other side cylinder was replaced not to long ago. Anyway got it runnig again it goes great alot of parts went on it. And the torque converter was the fix for the tranny no more shudder or slight grinding sound when in gear stopped. all good for now. I would like to say thanks to all of you who helped me along the way I saved a ton of $$$ on these repairs it wouldnt have been worth it to pay a shop to do all of this. thanks for your time everyone
