Thats the opposite for me... I just purchased a 5-speed vehicle for a DD, but I'm keeping the Auto for my toy car since with the nitrous once engaged it doesn't shut off till I let off the gas
Well car is done, will pick up on monday. Here is what was done: (already had updated sprags ect...)
* Full rebuild (replacing standerd parts, seals ect...)
* New Bushings
* Hardended reaction shell
* New 4th input (IIRC what its called)
* Raybestos Stage 1 Clutches
* TransGo Shitkit JR
* OEM Vac. Modulator
* 2500-2700 Stall Converter
* New Chain
* Dextron 6 Valvoline ATF (full synth)
* New passanger Axle (mine was torn)
* Oil Pan gasket
* Rear main seal
* Oil level sender (leaking)
I might be forgetting something... I will add if i remember. Very expencive trip to the shop... Once its payed off its time for Valve job/Seals and Tbelt again... LOL i will have spent 5x the value of the car when thats done lol.... just cant get rid of her, shes been good. I should call it "Zombie Car" after the times i have brought here back from death!

Don't be alarmed if the transmission has a soft whine in 1st and 2nd gear, result of the new drive chain.

Ive gotta take it in for a few adjustments (couple funny things) but should be an easy fix. no wine, clean shifts and WOW that tq converter is a crazy! Power brake it at a stop and it revs up to 3000 RPM and start building boost and climbs to 5PSI and really wants to LAUNCH! I asked for a 2500rpm stall.... Lol i think she is more like 3000 but its all good, with the 5000+ ft elevation i think i will like it.

2500 stall bolted to a higher HP engine will result in a higher brake stall, your lucky its only 3k IIRC mine is closer to 4k and I have a 3195 stall converter in there from PDQ.
I have to finish my trans up again since I put together the input clutch WRONG and cooked it... Whoops... That's what I get for rushing.
Ohh no dont get me wrong... It will initially stall to 3K then it starts building boost and climbs FAST higher then 3K.. I didnt see how far it would let me stall to but it was starting to climb fast and build boost!

The Vac. Modulator was stuck again... Removed the Red stripe modulator and check valve. Replaced with OEM unit and boosting into it like the original setup i had and works perfect.. Moral of the story, if it aint broke.... Don't fix it! Good to go now.. Back to making the headers
So for you turbo guys running 4T60-E's, don't bother with check valves and aftermarket modulators... Stock one works just fine with vac/boost feeding it.

It probably actually helps by firming up the shifts really nice so there's less wear and tear on your clutches as well.
