  • 284 Finally arrived

    So,

I finally scored a Getrag 284 Trans. I know these units are not serviceable, but i just want to make sure its in good shape. How do I go about doing this? The input shaft spins freely. There appears to be the slightest amount of slop in the shaft, but otherwise it seems good (as if i would know).

Hi Dan, does the transmission have two male outputshafts? Mine has a male on the long side and a female hole in the lh side. Everyone is telling me I am missing a short stub shaft that goes in the hole.

    Thanks, Dan

I would think it is ok since the other end (engine side) gets supported by the hole in the end of the crank, normally where a pilot bushing or bearing goes.

Yes, there is a stub shaft that is just over 1" round and ~3-4" long that has different splines on each end.
