Thanks for the reminder... While its out I'll be adding one.

How do you install a drain plug on the aluminum pie-pan thin pan?
Also use loc-tite on the trans pan bolts. They don't take a lot of torque, and if you don't loc-tite them you will probably be going back and snugging them up after a few drives as it will start to leak.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Buy Mr. Gasket 4470 Transmission Oil Pan Drain Plug: Oil Drain Plugs - Amazon.com ✓ FREE DELIVERY possible on eligible purchases
I think I had something like that. Doesn't drain the pan completely, but it gets it below the edge of the pan, which sure does help! IIRC, mine might have been pointing down, but was blocked by the oil pan, so I wasn't too worried about it getting damaged.-Brad-

Who the hell has an aluminum pan on a 4t60e? If that were the case then that magnet over by the diff wouldn't stick to the pan...
Guess again, its steel
However you could have an aluminum pan... but that already comes with a drain plug and cooling fins.

IIRC they are aluminum cast too, not CNC'd

Mine has a large dent in it, and also some gashes from driving over crap in the road. One time a large muffler fell off a car and made a nice scratch in my oil pan, then got stuck under the trans pan and drug for a while until I could pull over and reverse off of it. That was when I was FE1. Now it would destroy my front air dam first...
But no rust. My 201 stainless exhaust has surface rust spots (probably just needs a polish to remove impurities or acid bath.. I forget what that's called and it would be fine) from the chemicals this winter but the pan is fine... odd.... ??sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

when torqued to spec, the bolts shouldn't back out. if you are going to use loc-tight, use the weaker of the bunch. you don't what to break off those tiny bolts when you want to take them out. i've never used loc-tight for tranny pan bolts, and have never had a problem because of that.Andy
