This is why I wanted to run through my trans.

All of these clutches had a dark ring on the bottom side. These clutches are for the Input gear or 1st, it looks almost like they may have been heating up/slipping.

And one of my bands has a nice burn mark right down the middle of it.

Left a hot spot on the drum, but no surface scaring

Also I went through my valve body and swapped out all the stock valves for the replacement Sonnax ones, and I'm glad I did that... Many of those were badly worn, and would get stuck in the bores. All cleaned up and swapped out and they all move freely.

side by side 3-4 and 4-3

    The improved 1-2 anti-stick one

I did the 2-3 and 3-2 as well, and did the high ratio boost valves to replace my low ratio ones. Same as I did on my red car trans and I was pleased with the result.

So right now I'm just waiting for that kit to come in and I need to order a new low band which is only 9 bux, thankfully.

willyman, I'll get you a pic of the old TCC valve vs the new one with the teflon seal.

My kit should be shipping tomorrow so I will try to get pictures of everything that comes in it on wednesday, or thursday, depending on when it shows up.

I am anxiously awaiting this picture. My fix is working to make my car drivable, but it still shudders before unlocking the TCC at a higher threshold. I will be posting the schematic and diagram this weekend.

As of right now I'm going to say to stay away from Level 10 First off their customer service SUCKS! And they are extremely slow at finalizing orders. First excuse was my Credit Card company delayed payment, But they never contacted me, so I find that hard to believe, And now second they couldn't get me a tracking number last Friday because their UPS machine was down... I ordered this kit on the 17th, they are in Hamburg NJ only ONE shipping day via Ground away from me... So if they said it shipped on Friday then it better be here today. Also when I get the kit, I better be able to decipher whats in it as far as brand quality and part numbers, or the whole thing is going back.

I found a New PDF on Raybestos that lists all the clutches that work with a 4t60e including all the high energy performance stuff they make, so if the parts I get are not on this list, and I can't verify that they are of a performance quality then they are going back and I'm ordering direct from Raybestos.

I will update this thread later today after UPS arrives... approx 11:45

Attached is the Raybestos application chart PDF for the transmissions they make parts for. The 65e is listed as well if those out there were wondering what performance clutch packs fit it.

Well I guess the Credit Card hang up was quite possibly my shipping address. I called them today after UPS did not deliver the kit to work here, and they gave me a tracking number this time, Its out for delivery today to my home address. I'm assuming with the delay they just changed the shipping address to my home one and it went through. They were still 1 week behind as far as shipping when they said they would.

I also contacted Raybestos direct to find out what they put together since I never got any specific info from Level 10... They returned my call and said that they sell their Stage 1 Red kit, plus the rest of the needed rebuild items since it was listed as a full kit. I'm still a bit pissed on the price right now but that may change when I see what I have at home waiting for me. If its just the fibers and and gaskets I'm going to send it back... I can get a full red fiber and steel kit and two bands and the 3rd ZPak for $316 shipped from WIT +$63 for the banner gasket and seal kit I already have, thats still under the 398 Price of this kit.

So now I guess stay tuned till 4:30 for some updated ranting, BUT hopefully satisfaction.

They may pull themselves out of this hole, but we'll see.

                Very dissatisfied with this kit...

I expected a banner seal kit, a filter kit, a clutch kit, and a steel kit and hell for 398 I expected maybe a band or two...

NOPE... It was a Banner kit, a filter with no seal, and a Raybestos Stage 1 clutch kit... NO steels and NO bands... WTF

I can buy all of that from WITTrans.com for cheaper than their kit!

This was my latest e-mail to them.

                Lets see what happens.

                Level 10,
I received my kit today after a lengthy wait without any shipping updates to me. When I called and inquired about this kit I was told it was a “full rebuild” kit I asked twice over the phone if the kit had the required clutches and steels to do a full rebuild and to be matched with whatever performance clutches you provided, I was told once again it’s a “full kit” it has everything I need to do a rebuild. When I got my kit today I opened it to find that it is simply a Friction module Stage 1 and a Banner gasket kit and a filter. I was expecting a banner kit, a filter, a clutch kit and a steel kit and maybe a few bands for the price I paid… I did not expect the bushings since I was told on the phone that those were not included.

I would like to have the steels sent to me along with a forward and reverse band, Or I will ship what I currently have in my hands back for a full refund, and I will purchase my parts elsewhere. I am HIGHLY dissatisfied with the lack of parts included in this kit and what you charged me for it.

I can return this kit and go purchase a forward and reverse band, a full overhaul kit, a filter kit with bonded pan gasket, the Stage 1 clutch kit, and a full Steel kit for my 4t60e from elsewhere for cheaper than your “bulletproof kit.”

I hope this can be resolved quickly.

                  Hello Jonathan,

The bands and steels are not included in the kit.
However due to the miscommunication We are sending them to you because we want you to be a happy customer.
                  Sorry for any confusion.
The parts will be shipped out on Wednesday 3-31-2010

                  Best Regards,

                  973-827-1000
They've fixed the issue with me, but I would not advise purchasing this kit from them since they lack some items and especially for the price.

I'm inquiring about a kit listed on www.wittrans.com its called a stage one fiber kit and I wanted to ensure that it is the Stage 1's that Raybestos offers and not a knock off... If it is that fiber kit is only $150, steels are only $36 a overhaul kit is $69 or so, and then you can get a filter kit for $24 or something, AND also get all three bands for about 90-100, and all that added up your still under level 10's price of $398... I also think their Bulletproof claim on the kit I bought is BS since there is nothing included in that kit that would make my trans bullet proof... Hell it doesn't even have the hardened reverse shell.

Once I have conformation that they do sell the same kit I will post up a new thread with a link to their website with the parts they have listed.

VERY competitive prices from them as well... Valve bodies available and everything!

I seem to be the only one posting here... Anyone care? This also applies to 4t65e's as well... And Raybestos has TONS of fiber choices for that trans... even performance bands along with clutches.

good information. pretty shitty about the kit even after you spent $400 on it. at least they are sending you the additional parts.

ill be inquiring your assistance when i finally rip into mine. i may just get one from the yard and go through that. unless i can sore a deal on a uber low mile one and just replace the clutches with blue plate ones and then what ever other parts will fail.

Brendan, you would shit yourself if you saw how much aftermarket Raybestos has for the 4t40e. I'll have to check WIT Trans to see if they sell it all.

that's the numbers i came up with searching the grand am sites and they match up with the pdf you posted. as far as steels and other stuff i have no clue i cant find anything but ill search those sites more.

once the trans is rebuilt with the blue plates i haven't heard or read of anyone breaking one.

                          forward R577810
                          second R577820
                          direct R577850
                          coast R577830
                          low reverse R577800
                          reverse R577840

those are raybestos part numbers and from looking at the pdf it looks like they use the AXIOM part number.

found this but is it the whole set of clutches and steels. they have it listed for $223

No your right, I didnt know it was categorized differently than the 60e side. Mine that i see listed as 150 is ONLY under clutch modules section not one that says w/steels

They aparently make the Input clutches in Blue form for the 60e as well, BUT I cant seem to find them anywhere...

And I was told by a Raybestos rep that I probably do not need the 3rd ZPak unless I'm running a 1000HP engine... LOL
