  • Booger Bushings

So I bought the first mod of the year for my 92, Booger bushings. Anyone with a 5 speed car with any sort of age on the shifter cables knows how bad it sucks when the stock rubber bushings let go on you and you have to stop off, pop the hood and put the cable end back on the tranny as best as you can- only after fore and aft shifting gets really bad and sloppy. Well, I guess Neons have the same problem, but for side to side as well. Enter a man named Jeff Ball in Wisconsin who runs a company called Booger Bushings (http://www.boogerbushings.com). The sets the Neon guys can buy are $22 and include 4 bushings, but (and here is the beauty of them) according to the Booger Bushing site:

Many of these cars have only one cable and only use 2 small bushings. Continue on to the Order page to order these "1/2 sets".
The best thing about ours, they run $12 shipped- sure beats new cables to fix the problem... Here are a couple pics I snapped of mine:

It's too cold out for me to go putting them in right now, but they look and feel like quality pieces.

I have them in my '92. Considerering that I had no bushings to begin with, it was most definately a welcomed improvment.

Well, I had a temporary solution in the 92 for the longest time because I didn't want to spend a buttload on new cables. I had a piece of 3/8" fuel hose in there with a washer holding it in and a cotter pin holding it all together using the groove the stock bushing clips into.
