If I can get all the parts and it won't cost me a ton, I will do that.

This thing is close to working though. The ball-socket must be a better design?? I don't know.

    Anyone want to trade? LOL

Looks like it came from a 94-98 J-body. (Here's a pic of that shifter in m GA)

Ok I see now that you do NOT have the staggered linkage brackets I have on my shifter. Yours is def a GM product tho. I forget which car, but when searching for a shifter to fit my car, I found one just like yours. (As you can see, it is very similar tho)

I believe I checked the following cars:

        Gen 1 cavalier
        Gen 2 cavalier & a sunfire
        Beretta
        Corsica

One of those cars had a shifter like yours, I forget which tho. It's also possible I forgot to list a car, but your shifter is DEFINITELY a GM product!

          GA is an N-body...

unless you're refering to sticking a 94-98 J shifter in a N, in which case, i'll just be quiet and go in the corner

Yes, I put a cavi shifter in my GA as part of my 5-spd swap.

            Now go to the corner.

            BTW,
That "welded eyelit" is someone's jerry-rig. There should be a retainer clip there around the metal end of the linkage cable. Oh and I really think that your shifter is the stock Beretta shifter. I only know all this because I was recently screwin with the shifter in my car.

Its NOT a honda shifter. Only F and H motors got a cable shift trans and I am very familiar with that shifter, it is much different.

I have seen that shifter, the exact same one. I swear its gotta be from a cav or a 2.4 GA. I did look at a Ion, maybe thats where I saw it?

It looks like L cables rigged to a unknown shifter.

No way that the shifter is stock.

Stock the arm goes straight up, this one is angled as in the picture to clear some console that is not like mine. It does not clear the ebrake handle. 4th and Reverse hit the parking brake and you have to almost lift up the brake handle before putting it into gear..... Stock Beretta shifters never had the ball pivot like this, they were the older style that pivoted on a metal sleeve like this:

EDIT: The thing is with this shifter, all of the GM ones I've seen had plastic bases. This is metal... And I think for this style, it should have staggered cable mounts... That's why I think it's some other top welded to a different base...

They are for sure Beretta cables.

EDIT #2: Well, it's not 95-98 grand am, those have the old beretta style shifters too.

All the ones I've seen other than the newer N-body shifter were metal.

2000+ ones seem to be plastic base.

Well I'm going stock. Got the Rodney Dickman rebuild kit on my way to me to make sure the shifter is nice and tight. Hopefully it will be just as smooth as the ball/socket (which I have to admit, there is no slop with that, just slop in the cables due to the attachment points). I'll be installing the booger bushings (poly) in the cables to tighten up the trans side. Maybe even the Rodney Dickman brass bushings for the trans arms as well if I feel the need. They are a little loose with the plastic stock bushings.

I can always re-install the ball/socket in the future if I get bored and run out of stuff to do on the car... I'd attach the shift cable to the bottom of the shifter with a bolt/nut/sleeve combo, remove the rubber isolators, weld on some console brackets, cut out the angled part of the shift arm and weld in a straight piece.

Strange. I still don't have a positive identification on it other than it's GM.
