  • hard shifts

I have a 96 mc wit 3.4 and I'm having hard shifts through the fist three gears. At first it was only the first two but the other day I punched it and now its through all three. Could having to much fluid in cause this or could the vacuum mod be the problem. Also its engaging into drive kinda hard, could this be the torque converter or something else. thanks in advance.

engaging hard from park to drive would tell me it's a modulator issue, either the line going bad or the modulator itself. luckily, even the adjustable ones are cheap.

but having too much fluid will cause issues as well.

Make sure the battery didnt eat a vacuum line going to the modulator. Or it's cracked/etc

Do you know where the modulator is at?

Stand in front of the bumper and look down. It's facing towards the radiator. Can't miss it. Follow the vacuum lines... Should be a big sucker, and say holley on it. The adjustable ones are much smaller.

Should I get an adjustable one then, it shouldn't be to hard to adjust should it?

it's fairly easy, as long as you have a tool to adjust it. most use hex keys/allen wenches.

The only place that had one around here was autozne (I'm out of town) and it showed it being on the transmission itself. I sure didn't plan on getting under the car this weekend.

???? Pop the hood, unscrew one bolt, slap it in, twist it a few turns with a screwdriver when you need to adjust (inside where the vac line attaches), connect vacuum line and drive off. Pioneer is the brand I used, Orielly's has them. Look up like a 69 camaro for one :P 747001 comes up, not sure if that's the one... But yeah those adjustable ones fit all kinds of cars, they come in rebuild kits for the 4t60-e but also fit TH350 TH400 which would look like it's under the car on those diagrams.
