  • Question : Tranny Mount

Does anyone know of a source for a transmission mount in a 1992 Grand Prix with a 3.4 and a 5-speed Getrag? All three of mine are shot! Geo

Might have to go to the stealership. I sent the one off my 91 to Lorenzo (gpse3100) and if the one on the 92 goes bad, I'm just going to melt all the rubber off and fill it with poly,

You're gonna have to do some digging, because I'm pretty sure they technically don't exist anymore. Has anyone figured out if it's actually different from the 282 mount?

Stealership update! I went two days ago and their part system showed 0 in all categories including Vintage auto parts. I looked it up for my 91 3.4l Getrag, which should be the same part as your 92.

I don't know if you can buy them anymore. They may be a discontinued part.

Mine was so far gone that it pulled the rubber apart and snapped the pin running through the center meant to hold the 2 pieces together.

I 'repaired' it by burning all the rubber out, sandblasting, and welding some metal cross braces in it. Then I filled it with poly urathane. The poly cures as a single piece interwoven with the metal braces, hence holding the 2 halves together.

-just an option if you can't find one

Yet another spin on the tranny mount issue. How about a standard trans mount from a Maserati TC of the same year? Part number A2617 from www.deaproducts.com. I know that the TC had the Getrag 284 as well. I will probably end up doing the melty thing described briefly here. I'll just have to teach myself how to weld
