  • 99' Alero 3.4L tranmission

What transmission does it have? Is it the 4T60-E?

What would be the newest replacement?

Engine, I assume up to 2004.

Below if the transmission I want to put in it. From reading, it seems it needs to be
reprogrammed but it should fit. I called a local shop and the guy said he can reprogram
it. Which he believes is just wiping it? But if it's not he knows another shop that would
know. I guess my question is what do I need to get for him to make it happen.

The car is 1999 Alero 3.4.

Is using a transmission from a Grand AM GT (4t45e) as simple as reprogramming
the computer? Below is the transmission info from the junkyard.

Thanks for all your help lately!

the tranny from the G6 wont work. something with the valve bodies and the different shifting options they got.

i saw it on either grandamgt.com or gaoc.com might have even been here. but thats what someone said.

go with the lowest mileage one you can find. GM did some updates in 02 iirc

Would the HPTurner be what I need to re-program the transmission?

The final drive is 3.29 verse the stock 3.04.

Should be able to flash the 2005 GT into?

yeah you would be able to do that with hp tuners. you dont need to reprogram the transmission itself just change the things that are different in the pcm.

the shift points might be different and your speedo would be off.

The transmission is going to the cities Monday to get the inserts put in.

Do the inserts break traction control? It seems like they would. Do they unlock?
I'm a little confused on this one.

For those with icy winters, any advice driving with them?
