Ah,. then you can tell me if it has the information needed for pulling the final drive while still in the car. Even if it doesn't, Im sure it has all the tech info. I can rely on this website for the rest.

Ok, the book's on its way. Now I need to hear from individuals that have pulled both the chain and or the differential while in the car. I need details as how to do it. Pics would be nice. I have a feeling that I will be pulling both axles and dropping the rear of the cradle. And since that is going to happen, alt., both axles and anything else I can get to will be replaced. E Mail me if necessary. All responses will be appreciated and I will take pics to post later. Thanx!! 94 Cutlass Supreme SL Coupe, 3.4 DOHC,4T60-E. ball joint
            rubber covers
            cv from hub
            cv from tranny
remove lower trans/ engine mount and bracket( really a pain have to work it free
slightly lower the rear of the cradle
remove front mount lower bolts (to remove above)
            pull alternator

good luck and remeber to put grease on the axel seal so it doesn't burn up from being dry

Ahite! Got the book. Very detailed. Unfortunately it only deals with "out of the car" info. Going to do further testing tonight to see which side gets tore down. (please let it be the differential side) Either way both half shafts are getting redone. Brakes and rotors too. Nice to be able to do this in a machine shop. I will have the alternator checked, won't replace unless it needs it. Job commences on Saturday morning.

Not if it's the chain! I don't think I could reach it from the passenger side.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! It's been a long weekend of bad news. After extensive poking and prodding. Even using the stethescope, I could not find the cause or the origin of the noise. Called the man who rebuilt this tranny, and he came to look at it at my house. When he was done he spoke these exact words. (about the tranny, not the car) "Put pennies over it's eyes before you lower it into the ground." He is going to do it again, but since the warranty has expired on the rebuild, we are going to compromise. Free labor, I pay for parts and tow bill. Is there anything that can be done to this tranny to make it able to withstand my heavy ass foot? Parts? Tricks? Anything? With such a motor as the 3.4, I don't feel I should have to Baby this Bitch!! ME> <CAR

Dump in a 5 speed. I went through 2 4t60e's in my 91. Put a 5 speed 284 in there, and it's still working fine except for the 2nd gear syncro I blew racing an older non turbo Supra. It still goes into 2nd, but I have to rev match to get it to go in.

I have toyed with the idea, if it screws me again it may be more than a thought.
