  • Differential shimming a 282 help

Ok, I might have asked this a year or two ago but I need to set the differential shim on a 282 bc I am using the q4 trans with the V6 bellhousing. I actually have the tool to do it but it didnt come with everything needed. Somebody responded with something about how they used an old bearing race.....and thats all I remember lol. So how do you guys do it?

i never shimmed mine when i ran the Q4 trans, neither have alot of people. Not saying that it's a good idea to do it that way.. haha

i actually have the diff from the Q4 in my 91 V6 trans now (minus the 3.94 gear of course), it's welded solid and is holding up to hard launches on slicks.

Just threw my first trans together and 70,000 on it and its developing a thud when i press in the clutch while moving. My 2nd trans i want to do right. The old trans is still in my car so i wont know if the dif is loose until i pull it out
